Wishing the Winter..........

Wishing the Winter..........olympics would get here sooner. Harry Vogel is a very close friend of mine who is currently in Salt Lake training for the next winter olympics which will be held in russia......burrrrrrrr. to say he is fast is a understatement. he is insane when he is on the ice. earlier this year he decided to get back into ice speed skating instead of sticking with inlines. after getting back into the swing of things there was nothing holding him back. at his first competition he made CAT 1 (the fastest class) and was ranked in the top 20! he is an amazing friend and hopefully in the near future i will be able to take a trip out to salt lake and take some pictures of him on the worlds fastest ice at the olympic oval. below are two pictures of him i have taken in the past few months while he has been home. let me know what you think!

Swamped Much.......

i have decide im am going to back to blogging after taking some time off from it. i have been really busy the past few months. i have meet some amazing people and picked up a few clients.......so what have i been up to? i will let the pictures explain. they span from Formula D, to the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta and the random photo shoots i do.

here are a few random pictures from some of the photoshoots i have done over the last few months.

Formula D

Well a few weeks ago I was in GA for Formula Drift Round 2 at Road Atlanta. Let me first say Hotlanta lived up to its name ten fold. Overall the event was amazing. There were so many cars there this year, 51. My friend Patrick let me use this Canon 28-70 2.8 L and all i have to say is that is the next lens I will own. The pictures that I got while useing that lens are amazing. One of these pictures I took is quite possibly my favorite picture I have taken and edited to date. Below is this picture. Also while at the event I had a large format camera with me, it was funny watching peoples expressions when I pulled it out to take a picture of the drift cars. A few people knew what it was but some people where like what is that, is that a flash and one person asked if it was a telescope hahaha. Overall it was a great trip. I meet photographers that I have always wanted to meet and vidographers. I made some contacts and that was my main goal. Now with this picture below Im gonna try to start shooting for Redbull.

Who says film is dead........

You would be wrong. Very wrong. I think film is slowly coming back. It really does take a true passion to love film. Film can be a pain at time. Always in the dark, smelly hands due to chemicals. But in the end the quality of your prints is ten fold if not more than digital prints. When shooting you have to slow down and take everything into account, exposure, lighting, just ever little detail to make a good neg. For example one of my teachers I have right now Joey Seawell (check him and his wife out) shoot almost all film and very little digital. Even weddings. His stuff is killer. But with that you just have to know what you are doing. Recently at school we have started color neg film. First was a kelvin assignment. Ehh it was ok. This past week we had to go a color water assignment. We were required to Kodak Ektachrome Tungsten balanced transparency film. This project was a lot of fun. I will be scanning some of the negatives I did not turn in.

A while back I obtained a roll of Ektar 120 ISO 100 film. I decided to use the film at the local Lamborghini Dealership. When I was done I had the film developed at my school but couldn't do anything with it because we were doing just black and white. but since we have started color we were checked out on film scanners. Here is a preview of one picture. In the original picture(which is a screen shot) the film has a very very blue cast over the picture due to the fact the computer I was using didn't have the Ektar Color Profile. I was kinda worried at first until I pulled the image into Photoshop. All I have to say is WOW!!!! The capabilities of scanned film blew me away. I was able to correct all the color cast through out the image. I really want to start shooting more color film and maybe even do that once I have my own studio!

Onto the images. Let me know what you guys think.

Original. Large

Edit: Large

My try at product and portrait photography.

I have always to my self that I was horrible at shooting people. So I gave it one more try and here are two pictures I took. One of my good friend Torii(that is how she spells it) and my dad Jim.

Second a little while back i wanted to try some Product shots. i think these turned out really well for a cheap setup and first try ha.

All comments welcome. thanks for looking
